The American journalist, film critic
and screenwriter, who was once described by Forbes as "the most powerful
pundit in America" died April 4th at the age of 70 after an 11-year
battle with cancer.
Ebert
underwent surgery in 2006 to remove cancerous tissue near his right
jaw, which included removing a section of his lower jaw. The surgery
took his ability to talk, eat or drink, but never stopped him from
writing or reviewing movies.
Ebert began working as the Chicago Sun-Times film critic in 1967, and became a household name after winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1975 and hosting several movie-review TV shows.
Ebert was the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize, and the first to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. May his soul rest in peace... Amen.
